Summer Fun on the 101 promotes local music and helps fund scholarships – North Coast Current

Leucadia 101 Mainstreet Association announces the return of its annual Summer Fun on 101 Music Festival on July 9 at Leucadia Roadside Park, 860 N. Coast Highway 101, from 11:45 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Leucadia 101 celebrates the return of live in-person events by featuring legendary local artists Jack Tempchin and Ms. Henry. The acclaimed songwriter, best known for hits for the Eagles such as “Peaceful Easy Feeling” and “Already Gone,” has teamed up with San Diego rock and roll powerhouse Ms. Henry. They recently released a single together, “Rambling Freeborn Man”, and will be giving Leucadia a taste of their latest album as well as timeless Tempchin classics.

Encinitas twin brother duo Mattson 2 will return to the Summer Fun stage with their remarkable drum/guitar duo grooves and electrifying solos.

Monkey Jam, the winning youth group of the Leucadia 101 Mainstreet Battle of the Bands, will also take the stage. Lead vocalist Ainsley Savant blew the judges away with her powerful vocals backed by Monkey Jam’s tight, roaring rhythm section.

The event is free and open to the whole community.

“Summer Fun on the 101 is a first-class music festival the whole family can enjoy,” said Michael Schmitt, event founder and president of promotions for Leucadia 101. neighbors in the shade of Leucadia Roadside Park, cradled by Jack Tempchin and Mrs. Henry. What’s better than that? We know the Leucadia kids are fired up and ready for the return of hula hoop competition.

There will be a Craft Beer Garden sponsored by Ballast Point Brewing and Local Roots Kombucha. Attendees 21 and older will be able to sample beer from Ballast Point as well as Kombucha from Local Roots.

Money raised from the event will fund college scholarships for two local San Dieguito Academy graduates pursuing music studies. To contribute, donate or take a ticket for the raffle with prizes from Highway 101 businesses such as The Leucadian Bar, Bing Surfboards, Vigilucci’s Trattoria Italiana, Choice Juicery, Mktspace, Fish 101, School of Rock Encinitas and more.

The band’s lineup also includes the Colonel Clinton Davis String Band, Amerikan Bear, The Morning Room and Big Boss Bubeleh.
