Bamburgh has been voted Britain’s best seaside resort

A small village with a majestic castle has been voted Britain’s best seaside resort for the second year in a row.

With a population of just 454, Bamburgh, Northumberland saw its biggest rivals Dartmouth and Tenby to score 87 out of 100 – two more than its 2021 tally.

Vacationers have given it five stars for its breathtaking scenery, stunning beachfront and tranquility.

The survey was carried out for Which one? He said: “Bamburgh proved unbeatable once again for its sheer beauty with its wide sandy beach overlooked by a clifftop castle.”

Llandudno in North Wales, where rooms average £95 a night compared to £127 in Bamburgh, came second with 86.

Holidaymakers have praised the ‘unmatched’ views from its Great Orme headland and its down-to-earth prices.

Posh St Andrews in Fife, where rooms cost £225 a night, took third place with 84.

The spiritual home of golf and the university town where the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge studied, has been rated among the best for scenery and won four stars for food, drink and shopping.

Who? said its “picturesque streets and historic sites” were “a testament to its winning mix of sport, culture, sand and sea”.

There was no change at the bottom of the table either, with Skegness, Lincs coming in last for the third straight year with a score of just 49.
