Discover the South of France at this Caribbean hotel

With travel in Europe more overbooked and hectic than ever, a Caribbean hotel is trying to deliver southern French charm without setting foot across the pond. Rosewood Le Guanahani St. Barth’s offers the care, style, and joie de vivre of coastal France, without the headaches of transatlantic travel and crowded tourist traps. And they promise not to disappoint. How? They do this by focusing almost every detail of the property on being authentically French.

The overall architecture and design of the resort is deeply rooted in French Caribbean aesthetics. The kids’ club monitors are also willing to teach guests’ children the basics of the French language through games and resort activities. In fact, all counselors speak English and French.

Meanwhile, Stéphane Carou was St. Barth’s first Clefs d’Or concierge and has worked at the property for nearly 26 years. A Clefs d’Or concierge service is available 24 hours a day. Plus, the lavender bougainvillea found around the property is a nod to Provence. And there are French illustrations in the rooms of women frolicking in the sea, titled La Rire, a reminder of French culture on the island.

You can even shop the authentic way at the on-site Pompom Paris pop-up. French designer and founder of Pompom Paris, Lola Rykiel, has created a capsule collection of crystal sweaters, velvet tracksuits and yoga outfits, available only at the resort’s boutique, La Boutique. Above that “Sense,” A Rosewood Spa, French beauty culture inspires treatments with B3-enriched moisturizers, seaweed-infused facials, lemon oil body wraps , and more.

In terms of gastronomy, you can dine like a Parisian at The Beach House with pasta with caviar and a saddle of lamb. Or take a French cooking class with an expert. And, in the evening, enjoy barrel-aged cocktails with handpicked cigars on a terrace of the Bar Mélangé. Plus, all of this French heritage luxury is crafted by a team of 90% French associates to ensure authenticity.

“Rosewood Le Guanahani St. Barth is the hidden gem of the Caribbean where authentic French culture can be experienced alongside our colorful design elements and lush vegetation (over 100 varieties of flora found on-site),” said managing director Martein van Wagenberg. “Nowhere else will you encounter the same level of authenticity and attention to detail when it comes to creating what we all cherish about France and the famous southern coasts.

Speaking of shoreline, the property sits on 18 lush acres and has its own peninsula. Thus, guests can enjoy private sandy beaches and boat trips like those in the south of France. For more upscale privacy, Rosewood Le Guanahani offers a mix of suites and private villas, perfect for a romantic getaway or a family vacation that requires private pools. Of course, there are two public swimming pools, one family and another adults only, which you can enjoy while admiring the perfect sea.

Van Wagenberg added, “Our pristine beaches and stunning reserves instill an immediate sense of peace, and guests return time and time again to our property to indulge in the French Caribbean joie de vivre that is woven into every aspect of our heavenly destination.”
